BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH TO PLAY PETE SEEGER IN BOB DYLAN BIOPIC

Timothée Chalamet might be taking centerstage as Bob Dylan in a new biopic, but a different star will be joining him as another music icon. Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly set to portray folk singer Pete Seeger in “A Complete Unknown.”
Director James Mangold revealed the news at Cannes after his upcoming “Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny” debuted. Seeger was instrumental in Dylan coming to the forefront of American music. He was responsible for Dylan’s performance at the Newport Folk Festival and assisted Dylan in securing his first contract with a record label.
Monica Barbaro and Elle Fanning have also joined the cast. Release dates have not been revealed, but Mangold confirmed “Unknown” will follow Dylan’s early days as a musician and calls the story “an interesting moment in the American music scene.”
