David Crosby Dead At 81

Influential ‘60s rocker David Crosby has died. The singer/guitarist and founder of both The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, & Nash (and (later) Young) is reported to have passed away surrounded by his wife and son.
“It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away,” wrote his wife Jan in a statement. “…Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us.”
Crosby’s death comes as a surprise, as Crosby was active on Twitter as recently as Wednesday. Crosby announced last year that he was retiring from touring but that he would continue to record, but his comments suggested that he knew his time was short. “I’ve been making records at a startling rate,” Crosby said at the time. “Now I’m 80 years old so I’m gonna die fairly soon. That’s how that works.”
