JIMMY BUFFETT DIES FROM RARE SKIN CANCER

The man who turned all of our longings to sell everything off and live out our days as beach bums into a song (and a career) has sailed off into the sunset. Jimmy Buffett, singer of songs like “Margaritaville” and “A Pirate Looks At Forty,” died on Friday at the age of 76.

“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs,” read a statement on Buffett’s website. “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.” Buffett died at his home in Sag Harbor, New York.

Later, it was revealed Buffett died after a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer. The condition is said to be rare but one that spreads quickly to other parts of the body. Buffett apparently continued to perform even while being treated, and his last public performance ended up being a surprise show with Mac McAnally on July 5th. So long, Jimmy.
