The Bangles’ lead singer/guitarist/writer Susanna Hoffs has a new album of cover songs on its way. “The Deep End” is set to be released on April 7th just a few days after Hoffs’ debut novel, “This Bird Has Flown,” hits the stores. The LP will features covers a range of hits from classics by Leslie Gore to more recent hits by Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran.
To celebrate the upcoming release, Hoffs has dropped her first single- a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Under My Thumb.” Calling her version of the hit song “sassy and irreverent” via a statement, Hoffs said: “"I've listened to that song on repeat since it came out in the mid-'60s."I had an epiphany … to change the gender and see how it felt. What if the roles are/were reversed and the boy is under her thumb?”
