As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, whether youâre struggling with a strained relationship, a childâs choices, financial uncertainty, or health fears, surrender can seem terrifying. Yet Psalm 37:5 reminds us that when we let go, God doesnât. Committing our way to the Lord means rolling the weight off our shoulders and placing it in His capable hands. The Hebrew root of the word âcommitâ actually paints this picture of rolling something heavy onto another. Itâs not giving upâitâs giving over. Godâs promise isnât passiveâHe will act. He will take what youâve surrendered and begin working in ways unseen. And even though surrender isnât a one-time actâitâs a daily, sometimes hourly, decisionâHis patience and grace meet us in the process. If youâve been clinging tightly to something today, remember this: His hands are stronger than yours, His love is deeper, and His timing is perfect. He doesnât just catch what you releaseâHe redeems it. You know the burdens that weigh heavy on my heart. Tonight, I release them into Your handsâmy fears, my loved ones, my future. I trust that Your hands are better than mine, that Your wisdom is greater, and that You are working even when I cannot see it. When Iâm tempted to take control again, remind me of Your faithfulness. Thank You that letting go isnât losingâitâs trusting. Let it anchor you when you feel the urge to take control. The Weight Youâre Not Carrying: Imagine waking tomorrow without the burden youâve been holding.
