NBC will remember Elvis Presley’s 1968 comeback special with its own special. The network plans to air “The 50th Anniversary of the Elvis Comeback Special” sometime next year.
The two-hour special will feature rare footage of Elvis, as well as interviews with people who were involved in the telecast. It will also have contemporary stars recreating the special and staging of the original.
The original, “Singer Presents…Elvis” aired December 3rd 1968, and featured Elvis in his iconic black leather jumpsuit. It was his first TV performance in seven years.
