ISLEY BROTHERS GO TO COURT OVER BAND NAME

It’s brother vs. brother in court, and it’s not going to end anytime soon. The Isley Brothers are in court over a trademark dispute, and a federal judge has rejected a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
Rudolph Isley claims his brother Ronald Isley filed a trademark claim on “The Isley Brothers” name… without his brother. Ronald’s legal team says Rudolph forfeited his right to the name when he left the band. The judge cited “unique circumstances’ and moved the lawsuit toward a full trial.
When The Isley Brothers lost their brother and bandmate O’Kelly Isley in 1986, Rudolph says the name has been co-owned by him and brother Ronald. But Ronald continues to dispute that claim, which prompted Rudolph to pursue the lawsuit in March.
