Lionel Richie Tapped For AMA Icon Award

The American Music Awards are set for Sunday, November 20th at 8 p.m Eastern, with fans voting for the winners of most categories through next Monday. One award that isn’t up to the fans to decide is the Icon Award, which honors artists whose music has had a global influence in the industry, and this year it’s going to Lionel Richie.

Getting the award will put Richie in a category of one in the history of the AMAs, as he’ll become the only artist to have been featured on the AMA stage in every decade since the show debuted in 1973. Fans can vote for other AMA categories on the Billboard website or on Twitter.
