A huge release for fans of the Rolling Stones. The band has shared several live recordings from Toronto in 1977, including the full show from March 5 of that year that’s never been released before; Canadian band April Wine was the headliner, with the Stones billed as “The Cockroaches.”
A Canadian radio station held a contest for tickets to the show, asking fans to answer the question “What would you do to see the Rolling Stones play live?” without anyone knowing that the Stones would be there, much less playing.
The station said that people wrote in for the contest and “As you might expect, there were lots of nude Polaroids.” They said when the Stones came in to pick the winners, they took the pictures with them.
The stones are releasing a ‘Live at the El Mocambo’ album through Universal Music this Friday.
