Stevie Nicks commemorated the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with a note to fans on Twitter, posted in the journal format her fans have grown used to. She started her remembrance just before midnight on September 10th, 2001, as she was getting ready to put on three shows the next day.
Nicks says her assistant woke her up in her hotel room when the second plane hit. She says she stayed in lockdown at the hotel and thought about canceling her show at the Etess Arena on the 15th; she says she called her mom and Don Henley and says they both told her “If the people aren’t asking for their money back, they must want to see you.”
Nicks ended her note by saying “I became a New Yorker on that day. I was honored.”
