As we told you, back in November Cher met the “World’s Loneliest Elephant,” Kavaan, as he was being moved from a Pakistan zoo to Cambodian sanctuary, where he’ll live out his retirement. Well, now that journey is coming to TV.
“Cher & The Loneliest Elephant” will debut on Paramount + on Earth Day (April 22nd), and will also premiere on the Smithsonian Channel May 19th.
In the doc, Cher lends her star power to efforts to get Kavaan moved from the terrible conditions he was living in in Pakistan. He was subject of a social media campaign to free him after being diagnosed as suffering from depression, psychosis, malnourishment and obesity.
"I saw all the people being affected by it all over the world," Cher said in a statement. "People want a happy ending. People don't want to see animals suffer. And I know people are suffering too, but this is a story that can brighten their lives."
