Ron Bushy, longtime drummer for Iron Butterfly, has died at 79. The band has confirmed that Ron passed away early yesterday morning, surrounded by family at UCLA Santa Monica hospital.
Ron joined Iron Butterfly in 1966, and is the only member to have appeared on all six of their albums. He’s best known for his epic drum solo on the band’s 17-minute hit “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.”
According to “TMZ,” Ron was battling some form of cancer leading up to his passing. He’s survived by his wife Nancy, their three daughter and six grandchildren.
