Jame's Brown's drummer, Melvin Parker, passed away last week in Baltimore, MD. He was 77 years old.

Brown is best known for playing on a lot of Brown's hits in the '60s and '70s including "I Got You (I Feel Good)", "Get Up Offa That Thing," "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag," and "Out of Sight."

An obituary on the website of R. Swinson Funeral Services in his hometown of Kinston, NC, shares, "The Parker family is in the process of making arrangements for a final goodbye. Let's keep the Parker family in our thoughts and prayers during this time of bereavement."

Bootsy Collins, who also played with Brown before he joined Parliament-Funkadelic, shared a tribute on his Facebook page, starting it off by saying, "We lost one of the greatest [drummers] that flew under the radar." He ended the long post with, Thx u my brother Melvin for ur Gifts to the World & our time in the studio. R.I.P."
