Lifetime and A&E are giving Janet Jackson the documentary treatment. They announced that they’d be doing a two-night, four-hour documentary event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her first album, “Janet Jackson,” which was released in 1982 when she was 16.

The film, which has the working title of “JANET,” follows Janet as her family while dealing with the loss of her father, Joseph, who died in 2018. Producers were granted exclusive access to archival footage and never-before-seen home videos while developing the documentary for the past three years.

“JANET” will also look back Ms. Jackson’s most talked-about moments, including her 2004 Super Bowl appearance with Justin Timberlake where her breast was exposed. The docu will also explore her reaction to Michael Jackson’s death, and her process of becoming a mother. Look for it to debut in early 2022 on Lifetime and A&E.
