We told you earlier this month that a pretty nasty letter John Lennon wrote to Paul McCartney in the ‘70s was up for auction and had already seen a high bid at that point of $33k. Well, the auction is now over, and after a 17-day bidding war, the piece sold for $56k plus the buyer’s premium of $14k, which means someone spent $70k for the piece of Beatles history.
The letter was estimated to sell for between $30k and $40k, but 11 bidders ran the price up with 14 bids in total during the 17 days.
