Student debt is a hot topic these days because it’s a big problem in America. But not all states are equal when it comes to what’s owed in student loans, and new research reveals where people owe the most.
- WalletHub has just released their annual report on the States With the Most and Least Student Debt.
- They ranked all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on 12 factors in two main areas: Student-Loan Indebtedness and Grant & Student Work Opportunities.
- They looked at everything from average student debt to the unemployment rate for residents between the ages of 25 to 34 to the number of students with past-due loan balances.
- Based on all that, Pennsylvania tops the list as the state with the most student debt, coming in first for student-loan indebtedness and 12th for grant & student work opportunities.
- Nevada, which is 43rd overall, is number one for grant & student work opportunities.
- Utah is the state with the least student debt, and it’s last for student-loan indebtedness.
