Soft Cell is making music again. Marc Almond and Dave Ball announced they are currently working on their first album in close to 20 years.
“We haven’t tried to write another “Tainted Love”. Maybe we should!,” Dave tells the “Daily Star” about the album, which is due out in 2022. “But it’d be inappropriate for two 60-something men to try to write bouncy little pop numbers."
He adds, “I’d say the songs are sounding quite minimal, melodic and bass-driven,” noting, “I’m really pleased with how it’s coming along, it’s sounding great.”
Soft Cell’s last full-length album was 2002’s “Cruelty Without Beauty,” although they did release the new track, “Northern Lights” in 2018.
