Son Of Otis Redding, Otis Redding III, Passes

One of the sons of late singer Otis Redding, Otis Redding III- himself a singer and guitarist- has died. The younger Redding passed after a battle with cancer at the age of 59.
Redding was a young child of three years old when his dad died in a plane crash that claimed the lives of some of his bandmates on December 10th, 1967. Otis and his brother Dexter would go on to form their own band, The Reddings. Their funk-duo had its heyday in 80s, releasing six albums.
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Otis Redding III confirms that he lost his battle with cancer last evening,” announced Otis’ sister, Karla Redding-Andrews. Throughout his life, Otis served his family’s charity, the Otis Redding Foundation- a summer camp specializing in teaching kids music- and also on the board of his local Meals On Wheels.
