Sad news for fans of reggae music. Bunny Wailer, founding member of reggae band the Wailers, has passed away in Kingston, Jamaica at the age of 73. No cause of death was announced, but he did suffer a second stroke back in July.
Bunny was the last surviving member of the Wailers, which was founded in 1963 as the Wailing Wailers, with the late Bob Marley and the late Peter Tosh.
Bunny contributed to the band’s first two records, “Catch A Fire” and “Burnin’,” before leaving in 1973 for a solo career, releasing the album “Blackheart Man” in 1976. He won a GRAMMY Award for Best Reggae Album in 1991 for his tribute to Bob Marley, “Time Will Tell: A Tribute To Bob Marley,” and won it again in 1995 for “Crucial! Roots Classics.”
