Tom Petty’s documentary about the making of his 1994 solo album “Wildflowers” is coming to theaters. The late musician’s estate will screen “Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free” later next month on what would’ve been his 71st birthday.
The film debuted last March as an official SXSW 2021 Selection, and won Best Documentary Film at the Boulder Film Festival earlier this year. The doc focuses on the years 1993-1995, when Tom wrote most of the album, and features new interviews with the album’s co-producer Rick Rubin along with Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench of the Heartbreakers.
“Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of 'Wildflowers’” hits theaters on October 20th.
