U2 is headed to Las Vegas next year. “Billboard” reports that the Irish rockers are set to be the first band to play the brand-new MSG Sphere at The Venetian, which is scheduled to open in 2023.
The band has reportedly signed on for a multi-show residency, spread out over several months, at the arena, built by Madison Square Garden Entertainment chairman James Dolan.
And the venue won’t be your typical arena. It will hold about 17,500 seated guests (20,000 standing), with 23 VIP suites, offering a multi-sensory experience of sound and light. It will also feature 160,000 square feet of video viewing, with an exterior that can change using LED technology.
