As we previously told you, ABBA released a new Christmas song, "Little Things" and in the spirit of the season of giving, they are donating all the royalties from the song!
The donations will go to "UNICEF's Global Child Protection Fund" which helps support children affected by the COVID-10 pandemic, whether it be because of an economic school, social services interruptions, or school closures. Some of the programs that the fund supports include ones that protect girls from violence and give opportunities for empowerment and more.
Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, said, “We are very grateful to the four members of ABBA for their generous commitment to UNICEF. Their support to the Global Child Protection Fund will help us to target our support where we can achieve the greatest impact for children, help tackle the root causes of gender inequality and promote girls’ empowerment around the world."
ABBA and UNICEF have had a relationship since 1979. It was then that royalties from "Chiquitita" started supporting UNICEF and to date have raised $4.8 million. Royalties from "Little Thing" will go to the organization for the next five years.
The royalties for the song are generated whenever someone buys the single or streams it on YouTube, iTunes, or Spotify, so go stream it if you haven't already!
