A new temporary exhibit dedicated to Aretha Franklin opened yesterday at the Detroit Historical Society Museum. As part of the festivities, Aretha’s handprints were unveiled at Legends Plaza.
Aretha initially cast those handprints in concrete back in 2017, at the Detroit Music Hall’s celebration of the dedication of Aretha Franklin Way. They are now being put on permanent display in conjunction with the upcoming Aretha movie “Respect,” which opens August 16th.
The new exhibition will feature costumes from the movie, as well as other Aretha artifacts.
