Bono opened his book tour Wednesday night in what he called a “transgressive mood.” The singer said at one point during his appearance at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre, “This is all a little surreal, but it seems to be going well.” The “Stories of Surrender” show featured music and stories from the U2 frontman.

Most importantly, Bono didn’t look like a man who had heart surgery six years ago. In his newly published book, “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” he writes “I was born with an eccentric heart. In one of the chambers of my heart, where most people have three doors, I have two.” He underwent an eight-hour operation in 2016 to repair a “blister” on his aorta.
