Boy George is spilling the tea about fellow popstars in his new memoir, “Karma: My Autobiography.” According to an excerpt from “People”, The Culture Club singer has had beef with Janet Jackson for years. He says, “When it comes to me and Janet [Jackson], let’s wait a while.” George says they met on the “Solid Gold” show back in the 1980s when a then-makeupless George approached to fawn over her talent.
However, “She wasn’t friendly and didn’t try to be. But I just walked off and got myself into my best ‘Boy George’ and was walking around backstage to make sure I was seen by everyone,” he writes in the book. Then, when a member of Jackson’s crew approached him backstage and asked him to deliver a message for Janet into a video camera, George simply replied, “‘Next time you meet someone, be nice.'”
Following the video message, George recalls being whisked over to the “Rhythm Nation” singer’s dressing room where she apologized for not recognizing him without his makeup. “‘Are you saying you would have been nice to me if you knew who I was?’ We parted on awkward terms,” he says of the incident.
The book hit stores on Tuesday and is available for purchase now.
