The 15th annual Stand Up For Heroes benefit happened at Alice Tully Hall in New York earlier this week, and for the 14th time Bruce Springsteen took the stage to perform and get the crowd laughing, although the lineup also included a bunch of comedians who also had that covered.
The Boss performed a set that featured “I’ll Work for Your Love,” “Letter to You,” “Hungry Heart” and “Dancing in the Dark,” and in between told some dirty jokes, telling the crowd, “I play the guitar, too, but I tell some bad jokes before I do.”
Those bad jokes included one about a sex shop, a “cathouse,” a voodoo penis, and a joke about a songwriter who gives his songs X-rated names.
The night also featured standup from Jon Stewart, Nikki Glaser, Jim Gaffigan and Nate Bargatze and performances from Brandi Carlisle, Grace Gaustad and Sing Harlem. The benefit raised $4.6 million for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which supports veterans.
