As we told you before, Bruce Springsteen returned to Broadway last weekend. He’s shaken up the one-man show the second time around, and his manager Jon Landau has dived into the changes – and some of The Boss’ best onstage moments so far – in a new interview with “Variety.”
First and foremost, Bruce has ditched his usual closer “Born To Run,” replacing it with “I’ll See You In My Dreams” from his latest album “Letter To You.” Landau thinks the change was “brilliant,” although he did suggest Bruce perform “Born To Run” as an encore. The Boss’ response? “No, the story ends here,” he recalls Bruce saying. “This is the story I’m telling right now.”
Bruce got emotional several times during opening night, but not necessarily because he missed the stage. Landau says Bruce told the audience in the monologue before “Dreams” that he’s thinking about loved ones he’s lost – and he feels very “in the moment” during his performances dedicated to them.
- “Springsteen on Broadway” runs through September 4th.
