Keith Howland’s time with Chicago is coming to an end. The guitarist/singer has announced his retirement from the band as he moves on to the “next chapter” of his career.
“I can’t play the guitar right now, and it’s probably going to be several months before I can get back to anything normal,” Keith writes in a statement. “At this point, I have decided to move on to the next chapter in my life. I will no longer be performing with Chicago. I am extremely grateful for the 27 years that Chicago has given me musically. I am honored and blessed to be part of the legacy that is Chicago.”
The band has reportedly hired Tony Obrohta as Keith’s replacement. He’s been standing in for Keith since he injured his arm last month during Chicago’s ongoing tour, and is expected to join the band for their co-headlining tour with Brian Wilson for next summer.
