Cobain’s Estate Attacks Royal Opera House Over “Last Days” Production

he estate of the late Kurt Cobain is striking out at the Royal Opera House over their production based on Gus Van Sant’s 2005 film “Last Days,” which is loosely based on Cobain’s final hours in Seattle before his death. The production has gotten great reviews, but Cobain’s estate says they didn’t get permission to stage it.
In a statement, the estate says, “This show has been created and written without the permission or input of the Cobain estate,” referring to it as “an unauthorized attempt that seeks to profit and benefit from a brief meeting that took place thirty years ago.” The production was staged for a week earlier this month.
