David Byrne’s Broadway show “American Utopia” is one of the many productions hit by COVID, but instead of cancelling his production, he’s tweaking the show.

The Talking Heads frontman announced that the shows will resume this week but will be modified after “several members of our company, band and crew – who are fully vaccinated – have tested positive for COVID.”

“Rather than us cancelling our shows, we’re looking at this as a kind of opportunity to, well, honor our commitment to the audiences who are coming in the coming weeks and creating something special,” he shares, adding it’s “our opportunity to make lemonade from COVID lemons.”

As for what fans can expect, David explains, “You could call this ‘unplugged,’ you could call this ‘unchained’ if you like,” adding, “It will be something unlike anything we’ve done before. It’s not quite the show but it’s gonna be something special.”

“American Utopia” is expected to run until April. Fans who don’t want to see the modified show can get refunds.
