As we told you, earlier this week Elton John celebrated the 50th Anniversary of his historic performance at Troubadour in Los Angeles, which basically jumpstarted Elton’s career in America. Well, the Troubadour is one of many venues in trouble due to the coronavirus, but in a new interview Elton hinted that he’s doing what he can to help them out.
“I’ve heard that [the Troubadour] might be closing but I think it’s going to be ok,” he shared in a BBC 6 Music interview. “We have to preserve venues like this. I heard about it in the springtime before I returned to England and I made a few phone calls. There are a few irons in the fire.”
He added, “If venues like that disappear then it’s really grim stuff because they are so important…It’s a great launch pad. It’s a great room, it has atmosphere it has everything going for it. If you can’t play well at the Troubadour you can’t play well anywhere.”
- ONE MORE THING! As we told you, Elton John ex-wife Renate Blauel is suing him, claiming he broke their divorce agreement with his 2019 autobiography “Me.” Well, now in court documents Blauel is insisting that Elton should have known that sharing details about her would cause her to have mental health issues, because she had such issues during their marriage. In fact, she reveals that just days after they got married she suffered a drug overdose after he told her “the marriage was not working and that he wanted her to leave.” Elton still insists he did nothing wrong, with his lawyer noting, “Elton has always respected Renate's privacy and will continue to do so."
