Grateful Dead fans have a chance to get their hands on some pieces of the band’s history. The band has a variety of items hitting the auction block, from instruments to touring gear.
The collection includes:
- Late Jerry Garcia’s 12-string Guild Starfire guitar (estimated at $50k-70k)
- Jerry and Bob Weir’s 1990s-era stage racks ($10k-15k each)
- Jerry’s beloved McIntosh 2300 amp with “Budman” sticker ($5k-7k)
- Jerry’s cigarette-burned blackface Fender Twin Reverb shell ($2k-3k)
- Jerry’s skull-embroidered custom Nudie pants, worn during a few Texas shows ($20k-$30k)
- Pieces from the band’s legendary “wall of sound” system (estimated from $2k)
The auction aims to explore Grateful Dead’s “vast cultural impact,” and highlight stage equipment from “all eras” of their tours. Bidding takes place from October 7th to 14th at Sotheby’s.
