Joan Jett is opening up about the passing of Taylor Hawkins, and is sharing her memories of the drummer.
Jett also shared a memory from when the Blackhearts met the Foo Fighters for the first time "around 2010" saying that they "all really hit it off." She continued, “Just little things like that, they included me in. It was very, sort of, familial. We’re all sittin’ backstage, runnin’ through songs. I can see [Taylor] now on his drum pad, whacking away. He’s a wonderful guy.”
She also went on to say, “It’s really a tragedy that so many people who love him, lose him. But, you know, it’s not just physical. He’s around. And that’s hard for people to hear because they want the physical.”
- Meanwhile, in the same article Joan responded to some nasty comments Ted Nugent had to say about her being in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. "Neither should he. Is that his implication, that he should be on the list instead of me?," she says. "Well, that's just typical — it's what I've dealt with my whole life, being written off. Ted Nugent has to live with being Ted Nugent. He has to be in that body, so that's punishment enough." She added, "He's not a tough guy. He plays tough guy, but this is the guy who sh*t his pants — literally — so he didn't have to go in the Army.
