As we previously told you, Julian Lennon recently shared his first-ever cover of his father John Lennon’s classic “Imagine,” and apparently it wasn’t exactly a great experience for him.
"Let me tell you ... since I’ve been in the business, I’ve kind of been dreading the day," he shared on Elton John’s “Rocket Hour” radio show. "Because I’d always said that I would only actually sing it if it felt like it was the end of the world, in many respects."
Julian recorded his version for Global Citizen’s Stand Up For Ukraine special, and he says with what was going on with Russia and the Ukraine he felt now was the time, but he wanted to do his “own take,” while still respecting the original.
"For me, the only way I could do that was, take it away from the piano the plunky piano,” he said, “and do it as raw, as unproduced as possible and as heartfelt as possible.”
Julian plans to release the song as a charity single for refugees in Ukraine "and around the world."
