The fairy tale is a bit less simple we thought. Linda Ronstadt, the iconic singer who’s suffering from Parkinson’s, arrived on people’s radar again after one of her songs made a big mark on HBO’s “The Last Of Us.” “Long Long Time” was featured in the series’ now-infamous third episode that shares its title.

But Ronstadt was quick to tell people that she won’t be the financial beneficiary of the song’s comeback. “I still love the song and I’m very glad that Gary will get a windfall” she said, referring to songwriter Gary White. But Ronstadt- like many musicians today- sold her catalog in 2021 and won't see a dime from the revival.

“Long Long Time” saw a 4900% percent rise in streams on Spotify within an hour after it debuted on the HBO series. The exact number of streams rose from 8,000 before its appearance… to 149,000 the day after. And though Ronstadt admits she doesn’t follow social media closely, she is happy that it can only help the rumored biopic of her life that is in development.
