Prince fans may finally get to hear a long-shelved album he recorded in 1986 under the feminine persona Camille.
Jack White’s Third Man Records is reportedly set to release the album, also called “Camille,” with label co-founder Ben Blackwell telling “Mojo” they obtained the rights to release it from the singer’s estate. “We’re finally going to put it out,” Blackwell told Mojo. “Prince’s people agreed — almost too easy.”
So far there is no word on when it will be released. The album features pitched-up Prince vocals and includes eight songs, all of which have been released in other ways. For example, “Housequake,” “Strange Relationship,” and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” were on 1987’s Sign O’ the Times” and “Feel U Up” and “Shockadelica” were released as B-sides.
