Marvin Gaye’s classic holiday tune, “I Want to Come Home For Christmas,” just got a brand new animated video in honor of Veterans Day.

The song was written in 1972 after Gaye's brother Frankie returned home from serving in Vietnam and struggled to find unemployment, and the song is told from a soldier’s perspective.  The new video is a product of a collaboration between Motown/UMe and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).

“When PVA was approached to team with Motown/UMe in celebration of a new Marvin Gaye song about a soldier wanting to be home for Christmas, we had to say yes,” Charles Brown, PVA National President, shares. “Most servicemembers at one time or another had to be away from home during Christmas and paralyzed veterans even suffer holiday isolation today.” He adds, “We couldn’t think of anything more appropriate than launching Marvin Gaye’s new song and video on Veteran’s Day.”
