Neil Young Releases Surprise Album On Christmas

Neil Young gave his fans a surprise Christmas present this year. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer dropped the previously unreleased album “Summer Songs” to his Neil Young Archives site.
“Happy Holidays everyone! I think you will enjoy this very cool recording – lost for years, but not forgotten,” he shared. “Now a gift.”
The eight-song album was originally recorded in 1987, and has Neil playing all the instruments. Some of the songs did make it to future albums, including “Harvest Moon,” although Neil explains, “the words of these originals are significantly different from their subsequent master album releases in many cases.”
