As is customary, the death of an artist has brought renewed interest in their music. This time it’s Olivia Newton-John, who passed away last week.
According to Luminate data, on-demand audio and video streams for the singer’s music jumped 614% percent from the prior week, with streams of well over 11,000,000. These numbers are as of August 8th, which only accounts for four days after her death.
But that’s far from all. Olivia’s music saw an airplay increase of 6,048,300, up from 382,500 prior to her death. Plus, sales increases were up 2,135%, with 5,386 copies of her music sold.
Doing particularly well was the soundtrack to “Grease,” with streams up 231%, and album sales up 1,339%.
