As long as Peter Jackson’s new documentary “The Beatles: Get Back” is, it took Paul McCartney a fraction of the time to actually write the title track. In a clip from the doc, Paul seems to bring “Get Back” together in just about two minutes.
The fly-on-the-wall cameras catch Paul strumming away on his guitar for inspiration, with Ringo Starr and George Harrison by his side. As he workshops some chords and vague lyrics, you can eventually hear “Get Back” start to form. And by two minutes in, the song sounds a lot like what would eventually become a chart-topping hit in 1969.
However, it’s up for debate how quickly the song actually came together. Despite the doc’s length, it was edited, meaning there’s still plenty of material we still aren’t seeing in the six-plus hours of footage.
