The war of high costs to see live music rages on. Amid criticism from fans and moves by musicians to offset prices, a legendary band is pushing back against skyrocketing costs in their own way.

“I don’t know if we’ll ever come back to tour America,” said Roger Daltrey, the infamous singer of classic rock icon The Who. Admitting he and Pete Townshend “never say never,” Daltrey blames the rising cost of hitting the road in this country.

The rockers are about to tour Europe backed by an orchestra but insist that the price of labor, transportation and insurance in the US are too high to justify coming across the pond. “That’s just how business works,” said Daltrey. “The trouble now is if you get covid after that first show, you’ve lost that money (and can’t earn it back).”
