While talking with Eddie Trunk, Sammy Hagar said he’d been asked by Van Halen manager Irving Azoff if he’d like to be a part of an event with Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen, and say he responded that he’d love to play with the two anytime, “but it’s not going to be Van Halen. There is no Van Halen.”

Hagar then corrected himself and talked about Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang, saying, “Wolfie is Van Halen, okay? And he doesn’t wanna be the Van Halen copy band. He’s Van Halen, and if he wanted to play guitar with Al and Mikey and myself, I would love to do that.” He also confirmed he’s not on speaking terms with David Lee Roth, and that a tribute show might never happen.
