Sting Says Name Started As A “Joke”

Sting is opening up about the origins of his nickname, and while he says it started out as a “joke,” he’s happy it stuck around.
Sting tells the "Daily Star" he got the name from the trombone player in an old band. “"He made me sing a song which was awful,” he shares. “So, in protest I began to wear a black and yellow top. He started to call me Sting as a joke."
Sting adds that he’s “grateful” for the name though because it makes autograph signing easier. He notes, “I'm grateful for it now as when you have to sign something, it's short!"
