When R&B legend Marvin Gaye was taken from us 40 years ago today, fans were left to wonder what the musician left unsaid. But after a new revelation, we may not have to wonder much longer.
The family of musician Charles Dumolin has revealed that Gaye stayed with them in Belgium not long before he died… and the pair recorded 30 tapes of unheard music. “We can open a time capsule here and share the music of Marvin with the world,” said family lawyer Alex Trappeniers. “It’s very clear. He’s very present.”
Belgian law gives the Dumolin family ownership over the tapes… but intellectual property law makes whether they can release the music tricky. As that gets decided on the legal side, the family also says the “Sexual Healing” icon left behind notebooks, letters and costumes.
